Brief Description of Punjab, Pakistan:
The Pakistan consists of four provinces (Punjab, Sindh, KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Balochistan). The Capital of Pakistan is Islamabad. The Word Punjab mean "five waters”. Punjab is second largest province by area after Balochistan and first according to populations. It is surrounding by the Pakistan provinces of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as well as also attached borders with the Indian states of Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. Punjab have largest and oldest University which is known as Punjab University. The Largest Minar-e-Pakistan is Situated in Lahore, Punjab.The Punjab has five 5 rivers, which are Jhelum, Ravi, Chenab, , Beas and Sutlej, flow via the Panjnad River into the Indus River. These are the 5 great rivers of Punjab.The Punjab provincial capital is Lahore. Punjab has been settling since ancient times. Punjab approached the height of its splendor during the reign of the Mughal Empire, which for a time ruled from Lahore.The Indus Valley Civilization was first bring to light at Harappa. Site of what is considered by many to be the oldest university in the world. Punjab features heavily in the Hindu epic poem, the Mahabharata as well as is home to Taxila. Punjab was later occupied by Tamerlane, Babur, and Nader Shah.

Punjab is known in Pakistan for its respective prosperity and has the lowest rate of pauperism among all Pakistani provinces. A clear divide is current between the northern and southern portions of the province. Punjab is also one of South Asia's most urbanized regions with around 40% of people living in urban areas. Its human Progressing index rankings are high respective to the rest of Pakistan. Punjab is known in Pakistan for its relatively liberal social attitudes. The province has been strongly influenced by Sufism, with several Sufi shrines spread across Punjab which attract millions of devotees annually.
Punjab was central to the independence movements of both Pakistan and India, with Lahore being site of both the Declaration of Indian Independence. the resolution calling for the establishment of Pakistan. The administration of the Sikh Empire was based out of Lahore, until its defeat by the British. The province was established when the Punjab province of British India was divided along religious boundaries in 1947 by the Line after Partition.
