Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is a public research university which is located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was created in 1974 which provides Natural Science, Distance Education in Philosophy & Social Sciences. AIOU come 1st in Asia as well. It is considered the most attractive university in the country and has the most applicants per year.
The AIOU University is the world's 4th largest institution of higher learning with an annual being enrolled of 1,121,038 students in 2010, the majority are women and course being enrolled of 3,305,948 in 2011. This university has its 32 Regional Campuses and Centers throughout Pakistan.
